Pedalling with Purpose: 350 Miles for the Sikh Helpline

350-Mile Challenge

This summer, a dedicated team of riders is gearing up for something extraordinary: a 350-mile cycling challenge from Scotland to Birmingham. But this isn’t just about the physical endurance or scenic routes. It’s about a deeper commitment, to the community, to compassion, and to making sure no one feels alone in their darkest moments.

The Sikh Helpline has quietly supported thousands across the UK for years. Whether it’s someone facing bullying, domestic abuse, mental health struggles, or substance addiction, the Helpline is a trusted, confidential ear when it’s needed most. What makes it different is that it understands the cultural and faith-based nuances others might miss.

The team works tirelessly, often behind the scenes, offering guidance and a way forward when life feels overwhelming. Schools call them in to talk about knife crime, bullying, and social media safety. Families reach out when they don’t know where else to turn. Their volunteers handle it all with empathy and a strong sense of sewa – selfless service.

The bike ride is both a celebration and a call to action. It’s a celebration of the spirit that keeps this work going, fuelled not by money or recognition, but by compassion and duty. It’s also a reminder that this kind of support doesn’t appear out of thin air, it takes long hours, strong shoulders, and yes, sometimes tired legs on long roads.
